The reason for the restriction has to do with the range of Maxwell's shift lens being -100% to +100%; in other words, to render tile [2, 2] of a given 2 x 2 tile camera, the resolution is cut in half, and the lens is shifted [100%, 100%]. However, this limitation has recently been lifted, so while I can't say for sure how well it will work, it will theoretically be possible to use more than 2 tiles. That said, removing the 100% shift limitation on the plugin's side involves changing quite a bit of code, so it will take some testing to ensure the change does not break other things.

thank you for all these explanations I managed to make 3 tiles by axes beyond there are errors in placement of the camera rendering
if the next update is limited to 2 will be released that will be great

In plugin 3.0.5 you can use greater than 100% lens shift, which will allow using more than 2x2 tiles.

I'll not be surprised to find that NL is done by n[…]
