Hi!
First post ever on this forum.
I actually purchased Maxwell quite a while ago since I got a good offer but I haven't started to learn it until now.

To be honest it's quite a steep learning curve especially when you have no experience from other external renderers but I believe it's worth it considering what amazing things this renderer can produce!
I think I have seen every tutorial there is and reading A LOT of documents the last few days trying to wrap my head around the workflow and trying to understand the basics.

Now for my question:
I have created a disc in Cinema to act as an emitter but I can't make it to work properly.
The problem is that it emitts the light (material) away from the object in the scene.
I have tried to flip the normals and trying to rotate my disc but no success.

I have searched and haven't found any posts with this issue.

If someone could shed some light (pun intended) on this matter I would greatly appreciate it!
What am I doing wrong? What is the RIGHT way of making a working emitter in Cinema.

I run C4D R13 and Maxwell 2.6.10.0

Thank's in advance!

Hi again!

This is so strange!

I was looking in the Fire window and there I saw the strangeness but when I hit render it looked fine.
I stopped the render and went back to Fire and now it looks ok!
A bit strange on the inconsitency of the Fire preview.

I guess I must be doing something terribly wrong..

It may not be obvious, but changing geometry in the scene (rotating it, for example) is not reflected in real time in Maxwell Fire, so perhaps it was related to that.

Thank's!
I guess that may be the problem, I added a sphere and that didn't show up in Fire even if I orbited around the scene.
I just thought that Fire would automatically refresh when changing camera angle.

Another thing I didn't expect was the native C4D lights to work, as far as I have understood only emitters could be used as lights in Maxwell (other than physical sky and dome that is).

This miracle machine is getting better and better by the minute! :P

You are correct about all lights being emitters, it is just that the plugin does conversion of native lights into geometry (just open the MXS in Studio to get an idea of how that works).

Thank's alot! That explains it regarding the lights!
There is so much to learn but I already have a huge crush on this software! :D
And the materials that exist in the library is just incredible.

I think I'm going to open some old cinema scene files and try to improve them with Maxwell and hopefully learning something in the process.

I bet you will see me posting more stupid neewbie questions here soon...

Just be careful...I started with Maxwell 7 years ago (as a customer, not a developer), and apparently, it kind of took over my life.
