  • The plugin material editor's SSS Presets wizard was not working properly.
  • Camera shift lens was ignored when no Maxwell Camera Tag was present.

Hello JD - is it possible for the instruct the plugin when it exports to render/studio or fire to convert only used cinema materials and not the entire list of materials in the material manager? (I have a default scene that opens on startup that has a library of common widely used materials - most of the time I don't use them all - when I go over the MW it converts the lot which takes quite a bit wasted time)
Kind regards
Stuart

Well I'd rather suggest you use the simple command " remove unused materials" inside cinema before exporting to mw:) this way you save JD precious time for other, more important improvements.

Cheers

I appreciated that - for now that's what I do - just asking.

Are you referring to Sun Indicator > Show in viewport, or Image Based Parameters > Show in viewport?

If the former, have you set the Scale Factor such that the indicator is not hidden inside of some of your geometry? If the latter, does it seem related to (a) a particular HDR/MXI file, (b) the value of AM > Mode > Document > View Clipping, or (c) the position of the selected Scene Object within the Cinema object hierarchy?

Image based parameters. I've tried various models and scenes with various HDR's, EXR's and MXI's, I've tried all the view clipping settings, and moving the Scene Object around the hierarchy.
There's only ever one scene object present (that's the way I work) and I've tried toggling "use interpolation", "use background for all channels" and "screen mapped". No joy so far.

Hmm, I'd like to tell you I had an answer, but I'm not able to reproduce this here at all. For what it's worth, Screen Mapped and Use interpolation are render-time-only parameters and will have no effect on the Cinema viewport. Use background for all, when enabled, simply copies the parameters of the Background channel into the other channels; when it is disabled, you will see a Channel dropdown next to Show in viewport, which allows you to decide which channel's map should be shown.

To help me rule out the possibility of file-based issues, could you confirm that it is not working with one of the standard HDRs supplied with Maxwell, for example, /Applications/Maxwell 2/hdri/dosch/carb_04.hdr?

I can confirm that the Dosch HDRI's aren't working either.

Could you check the Display settings for the viewport? I see here that I can make my display look like yours by enabling Backface Culling. You might also try adjusting your OpenGL settings.

Actually I didn't have backface culling enabled, what made it look like that? I've tried fiddling with every display setting, OpenGL and advanced OpenGL setting, no joy.

And I've just checked the previous plug-ins, and it's not working in them either, but I remember it did, so I think it might be a Cinema issue, I'll keep fiddling settings. (I recently had a faulty graphics card replaced, it couldn't be that could it? It was replaced with an identical model.)

At this point, I really can't speculate as to a possible cause. The mechanism is not too complicated, basically a regular polygon sphere is drawn, using a regular material that is hidden in the material manager. It's conceivable that some other plugin could interfere, but that doesn't seem very likely.
