Hi folks,

I've just installed the updated C4D R12 plugin for Maxwell (version 2.5.0.0 and I'm using a Mac) but whenever I try to render I get an error message saying that the mxs can't be read. Any ideas?

Most likely, you have either not yet installed Maxwell Render 2.5, or you have two versions of Maxwell on your system -- this message would be seen if you tried to open a 2.5 MXS in an older version of Maxwell. Make sure after installing Maxwell 2.5 that you empty the trash, reboot, and that when you double-click on an MXS file in Finder, it opens Maxwell 2.5.

Looks like I somehow messed up the installation of Maxwell Render 2.5 so I will give it another shot tomorrow and let you know how it turns out.

Thanks!

I had the same problem.

Most important is that you don't store the previous files in a (for example) folder on the desktop.
That was what I did.
I dragged everything into a seperated folder: The plugin, the old Maxwell 2.1 version, even the preferences.

But each time I tried to render from within C4D (Mac-platform) the render-engine 2.1 started and gave me the same errormessage.
After storing the old software on a different harddrive, deleting all the files on the main harddrive, everything works just like it should.

Yes, Finder keeps track of links, so if you just drag your old Maxwell folder somewhere, it will still be used. You have to actually make sure that the desired version of Maxwell opens when you double-click an MXS file.
