#385523
Hi,

when converting Cinema materials to Maxwell Materials the original texture paths are ignored and all the textures are copied / rendered to 'Maxwell output folder' / textures.
Is there a possibility to change that?

I got a load of textures well sorted and the path is also specified in the c4d prefs/ maxwell paths ... I don't want Maxwell to copy all those textures again and again to the same folder as they are already well sorted and usually I deleted the output/textures folder quite regularly.

It would help me if I don't have to reassign each single texture but I'd prefer a toggle to tell Maxwell when converting materials from Cinema to either copy/render the textures and move the path OR to keep them at the place where they are and not change the path, not render them again. just use the originals...

(tyring to create Materials for the Laubwerk trees and it's a pita to have to change 16 Materials x 24 trees just to have them render nice in Maxwell...)

edit: i got no clue why it is diplayed fifferently now, but it seems like the files are all linked to the correct texture path. forget the question JD > your material translation seems to do what it's supposed to do.

for whatever reason - the first time I tried it all the textures were copied to the output/textures folder, but that was not the case when trying it again.

can it be that the maxwell scene object is interfering with this?

I'm not able to find any such problem, but I do find one UI glitch regarding the "Render all textures" option in the conversion: this is initialized to true when the UI is created, but the default is false. If you were to disable, then enable that option again (thereby synchronizing the UI with the underlying value), the plugin would ask Cinema to render a texture, even if it is using a disk-based bitmap, and in this case, you'd end up with a /textures folder, with a texture inside. However, this would be named like other procedural textures, e.g. Mat_color_0000.tga. That aside, though, disk textures referenced in Cinema materials should only be copied when exporting/rendering a Scene Object which has Pack & Go enabled.
