is there a possibility to get a switch in the maxwell plugin to enable us to switch off the Maxwell materials?

I usually distribute Cinema AND Maxwell materials and delete the ones not used for the render as they introduce mistakes in Cinema renders.
when rendering in Cinema it mostly produces just noise when the Maxwell material is being used.

To put them on layers and switch these layers off for rendering - doesn't work. Is there anything else I might try to switch off Maxwell Materials without deleting them?

Sorry, but no, I know of no way to accomplish that. It would be possible for the plugin to ignore Cinema materials, but I know of no way to make Cinema ignore Maxwell (or other plugin) materials. It's been mentioned before, that Maxon should really make materials work with the layer system.
