When I render with maxwell fire states there is no scene. I add a new scene and maxwell fire states the same thing. Any suggestions as to what the issue maybe?

I can't tell you without knowing the exact error message, and perhaps not even then, since messages you see in the Maxwell Fire window come from the render engine, and not from my own code. If you provide a scene which reproduces the issue, I may be able to infer what is the problem.
