Hi again

I have an object that should look like it´s a light but actually not emitting light (as this does an small sphere with IES in emitter material). So I put an emitting material onto that object and give it a mxw obj porps tag clicking "hide from GI". But the emission wont stop. The object can only be hidden totally (no emission, no visibility itself) or not at all.

can anyone plz give advise?

Thx Rogurt

Imagine this: I need to model OSRAM parathom mr16 and implement it in a scene. IES data is available. So I create a sphere and give it a mxm material which uses the IES. I want the sphere itself NOT to show in the rendering - only the light it emitts. Next I will be modeling the lamp and I will have to make some part of the geometry appear as if it was emmiting light (which the sphere already does).

In C4D I would be hiding the emitter itself and give the "LED bulb" part of the whole geometry a material with a bright color in the lumince channel but make the material emit no light GI wise...

What to do in Maxwell?

Someone may have a trick for that, but nothing comes to my mind. The geometry for the IES emitter should naturally have hide-from-camera and hide-from-GI enabled. The visible bulb geometry, assuming it will enclose the IES emitter geometry, or obstruct the emission of the IES emitter, will need hide-from-GI enabled. That is no problem, but it will also need to be given an emitter material, and I am not aware of any way to prevent that emitter from affecting the overall lighting in the scene. As I say though, someone may have a trick for it -- you may want to ask for input on the regular Maxwell Render forum.
