I'm trying to test out how C4D's Hair module works with export to Maxwell, but I'm working with the C4D 11.5 demo version....unfortunately no way I can see to get into Maxwell except by the plugin...which is not ready???
Does C4D Hair work with Maxwell? Anyone?

Yes, but you have to make sure it has geometry, so make sure that Hair Object > Generate > Type is set to triangles or something, then make sure that Hair Object > Generate > Type > Advanced > Single Object is checked, so you don't try to export a million single hairs.

Thx JD, I was able to bring it that way into my licensed 10.5 version, I can see the hair geometry but so far have not been able to render....I'll have to check all this out after the holiday.
