I decided to test animation with cinema + maxwell... very sweet results on my new core i7 920 :)

But i have a question about visibility, this cinema tag is not working with maxwell right?

I want to let an object become invisible in a few seconds.. (so i can show the inside)

is this possible? and how..

i tried few things.. they all didn't work, like using cinema materials..
so i can let transparency change in time from 0% to 100%.
works in preview.. but seems like maxwell doesn't take this over.

Only thing i got working is the hide object paramater.. so i can turn off the object blocking the inside.
but this way i can't do it fading in/out.

Any other solutions?

thanks for the help,

I'm not sure what you mean by 'visibility, this cinema tag' - do you mean a Display tag? If so - it won't work since the Visibility parameter in that tag has no way to be translated into an mxs file. For some reason, that visiblity doesn't seem to be working correctly with animation anyway - I set keyframes, but the value does not change.

As far as using a cinema material to do it, I tried that and it works well:

1. make your cinema material as normal
2. activate the alpha channel
3. set the alpha's texture to use a color shader
4. in the color shader, use hsv and set values to h=0, s=0, v=0
5. set the animation slider to the frame where the object should start fading out
6. set a keyframe in the color shader
7. move the animation slider to the point where you want the object to be invisible
8. in the color shader, set v = 100
9. set another keyframe in the color shader

Here's a quick example with colors and alpha animated:

hm... works for me...
here's an 50frames anim (~2mb) with the alpha channel of the used c4d-mat is animated from white to black.

edit: oh... too late...

yes i meant display tag.. inside there is visibility settings 0-100%.

and yes it works here as well with alpha in cinema materials..
I forgot i had to use alpha instead of transparency, havent worked with cinema materials in long time ;)

But i had to set the V to 0% and 100% opposite as you described.
100% is solid.. 0% is gone/invisible.

thanks for quick help.. im rendering a truck :)
only white skydome and hdri just for reflections
that way i can render in 12mins @ 800x600 to SL15
on my overclocked i7 920 @ 3,8ghz...

check it out:
(yes yes.. no windows.. everything is boring, but its work in progress :p)
