Hello,
When I start the plug in in Lightwave Maxwell tells me that there is a new plug in "2.0.8" but when I press on the link to download I get an error in my browser. How do I get the new plug in? BTW, finding and downloading plug-ins was easier on the old site - too bad. BTW, again, does anyone use Lightwave anymore? Nothing seems to happen with the program and LW Core has been beta for years now...
Thanks!

hey mate, welcome onboard - i'm as well one of those apparently rare LW users... :)

as for the plugin issues: just a bit more of patience and you will be surprised by a new and surprising version of the LW plugin very soon ;)

if you are unhappy with LW 9.6.0, try to get access to the 9.6.1 beta on the newtek site, it's well worth trying. it includes lots of bug fixes and on mac, it gives you access to 64 bit when running as UB. btw, i guess i can already reveal that LW 9.6.1 will also be full supported (also on mac 64 bit!) by the next maxwell plugin...

cheers

There have been some problems with the download servers, but they are fixed now and the autoupdate link should work again. If it still doesn't work, could you show me what URL it's trying to open?

Got the new LW plug in, thanks! I use a PC and LW 9.5 64-bit. Works ok with Maxwell but I get the impression that LW is a dead end. LWOs get more rare on the net and we have been waiting for LW Core for years now. Should I go for the LW beta or just get C4D or Rhino instead?

9.6.1 beta is worth testing and working very well here on windows. on a mac it is still another story, unfortunately - but getting better with 64 bit support now...

CORE development is one year old, but what will be released is more a basic package focused on modeling, even if this foundation seems to ground on a very good layout. on the other side, if you update to the CORE program you also get layout and modeler as special versions, working together without hub and a slightly expanded layout feature set...

in the end, it all depends of what features you are missing and what workflows you are in. i'm for example modeling everything in formz, using LW as animation and scene setup tool and render with maxwell, kray or fprime or also natively with LW. i'm using modeler just marginally for UV texturing details etc.

cheers
