I can seem to find where to apply the new "extra samples" feature from within maya. Is this currently not supported in the plugin? if not it would be extremely appreciated!

It's not implemented yet because we're still discussing the best workflow for this feature. We'll add it in the next plug-in update.

Extra sampling is available in version 3.1.6, which I've just uploaded to the early builds site.
