I wanted to render animation that I had the FIRE reflections and shadow ticked ON in render settings and i set renderer to DRAFT mode. But upon render>batchRender in maya the batch render did not render my anim with the shadow nor reflection.

Is this a bug in plugin or do I manually have to write a flag into the "additional flags" field of Maxwell render tab?

It's a bug in the plug-in. Those settings are only taken into account when you use FIRE, not when you render in draft mode. It will be fixed in the next release.
