I'm sure this is way more simple than I'm making it out to be...

I have a polygon bottle in maya. I want to use a glass bottle material from the Maxwell resource library. I also want to add a logo to the bottle. I can't seem to figure out how to do this.

Layered maxwell materials seem to be the logical thing to use... but I don't know how to get my logo image file in there.. and getting it positioned correctly.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

First of all here's the documentation page that has a nice explanation:
http://support.nextlimit.com/display/ma ... ing+Layers

But in abridged form:
1. Edit your glass bottle material
2. Create new layer in this material
3. Do you know how to add textures? It's the checkered boxes next to each field. Select the BSDF of your new layer and put your label image in the Reflectance 0 channel (of the BSDF) of this layer. Also put it in the 90 channel, but perhaps dial up the brightness a bit (not sure if this is best practices).
4. To position the label, move the whole material around using Maya. It doesn't matter that you're also moving the rest of the bottle texture.

Thank you, that is a big help.

My only problem now is that I'm not sure how to move the material around. I'm inexperienced with texturing... I've done a little reading about cylindrical projection mapping... can I apply a projection map to this maxwell material somehow?

Thanks again for your help.

Ok, I think I got projection mapping working... but now the logo repeats. How do I get it to only show in the material once? I play with the repeat inside the material settings... without success.

A few more hours of messing with it and I've figured it out. Can't seem to switch of repeating textures when using projection. I simply made the white space around my logo larger and it works great.
