Can mxs references vertices have "non standard" color, adding to layer or overriding attributes doesn't change anything, they are always deep blue.

Do you mean in the viewport? It's not possible to change the color at the moment, but I can add an attribute which does this if you want. It won't affect the render in any way, just the viewport representation.

Yes, viewport only, just to be able to see differences between object categories, eg. greenery, buildings, site elements. Most important is that that attribute would inherit color from layer and group
