I read the maxwell manual.. (v1.1 I dont think its accurate to the 2.5.3 release) but it says that the hidden to camera/ global illumination checkboxes are under the geometry's shape node... in the MAXWELL RENDER twirldown..

I think i remeber that that maxwel render properties under shape node has been moved? And so now I cannot find where one would check the Hidden to Camera, etc check boxes.. where can i find this?

-Is there a newer plugin manual than the one on the think site (v1.1) or are ya'll still putting one together one that will reflect the new maxwell 2.5 update..

The settings should still be in the Maxwell Render roll-up, inside the shape node AE:

If you're not seeing that rollup, make sure the plug-in is set to autoload. If it still doesn't show up with the plug-in set to autoload, we'll have to dig deeper to see why it doesn't work on your machine.

ya for sure it wasn't showing up when maxwell wasn't set to autoload (i personally dont like to have plugins set to autoload)
but when I set maxwell to autoload then it now shows the MAXWELL Section under the shape node.. (so I will keep maxwell set to autoload)

Thank You for your response!

We inject that rollup there with a hack which replaces some of the AE code at runtime, but the hack doesn't work if you open the AE before loading the plug-in. We used to automatically destroy the AE when you load the plug-in so that it gets rebuilt with our rollup at the right place next time you display it, but that was causing other issues in Maya 2011, so we had to disable this behavior. Obviously, the only way to make sure the plug-in is loaded when you first open the AE is to set it to autoload.

Hopefully one day Autodesk will add real support for extending the AE for built-in nodes, and then we'll get rid of this hack.
