I often open a maya scene after setting my project and my maxwell material previews are gone and replaced by the default gray sphere. I'm not sure why this happens, but is it possible to include a feature that will re-render a maya selection of shaders? So I can select all of my maxwell materials in the hypershade and with one click, re-render all of their previews one at a time? My scenes often have 20-40 materials in them and it takes a long time to select each one, load the shader GUI, press "preview", etc.

I would script this in mel except I can't seem to find the mel code that the "preview" button runs.

cheers,

The command is maxwell -renderMatPreview material_name. The swatches are lost if the plug-in can't write to the .mayaSwatches subdirectory of the directory where the scene file is located, or if you move the scene without moving that subdirectory too. The previews are stored in files with the extension "mxprev" inside .mayaSwatches.
