When I batch render in 2011, the batch monitor starts but no maxwell renders begin. Has anyone else experienced this? Can people successfully batch render from 2011?

I have some weird problems with batch render here with the latest plugin 2.1.2.

superbaka: are you using the latest plug-in? There was a problem with batch rendering in older versions, but it should be fixed in 2.1.2.

I encountered something similar with Maya 2011 when 2.1.2 came out.
I could only start a batch render when I randomly decided to change the file outptut
from name.ext.# to name.# .ext !!

That's not random and it's always been like that. It's explained a few times on the forum, for example here.
