everytime I try to use IES I get the msg "improper argument" before open-file dialog opens (in maya). I choose one and when rendering, I get from maxwell a msg like this "ERROR: - Photometric file not found : ( D:/2-library/Maxwell 2/IES-Lights and more/IES Files and more stuff/5.IES ), in Material "maxwellLayeredMaterial1" "..... and that's where the file is. I hope those errors will be fixed since now MR 2 is quite problematic for me :(

Does the "improper argument" error show up as a dialog box, or in the script editor? If it's in the script editor, please enable "Line numbers in errors" in the "History" menu and tell me if next time the error occurs, a file name and line number are printed.

I think Maxwell also says "photometric file not found" when it can't parse the file (even if it exists). Try making a simple emitter in Studio with that IES and see if rendering from there works.
