This behaviour refers to the Interactive Rendering mode and Fire.
This happens with cameras with an offset value other than zero.
These camera settings are usefull for architectural corrected perspectives where the vertical lines shows paralel in the image.
Fire or the Interactive Rendering mode shows an offset diferent from the offset shown in the default Maya viewports as well as the final rendered image by maxwell.


These diferences are not constant from machine to machine, specially if the monitors are different proportions and sizes, as it can be seen in the screen captures.
