Hi guys hope someone can help with this. I can load 3ds max and use the new plugin and there are no problems it all works fine.
Except I dont have access to the graphite modelling tools. If I click the icon in the tool bar I get the following messages:

Error parsing Xaml file: Root element missing.
When I press OK I get:
The main Ribbon configuration file is possibly corrupt. Reset to factory defaults?

If I click either yes or no I still can't access the tools.
I am assuming this is a problem with the new plugin as I've never had this problem before and it occurred immediately after installing new update and happens every time I load 3ds Max.

I'm running 2011 by the way

Thanks guys!

Here is the response I got from Autodesk when I had the same problem. The solution worked for me. I'm not sure it's Maxwell related.
Hi Brian,

I understand that you get an XAML Parse Error and several others when starting 3ds Max 2011.

Please try the tips below and let me know if they help.
Please try a quick reset of 3ds Max as per steps below.

Close 3ds Max. rename the enu folder to enu.old

-in XP

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk\3dsmax\<version>\enu

-in XP 64 bit

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk\3dsmax\2010 - 64bit

-in Vista

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsmax\<version>\enu.

These paths include hidden folders, so be sure to enable the ability to see hidden folders in Windows.

Hi, got ribbon working again…
if max starts it tries to repair the ribbon .xaml file but it doesn’t work - so I had a look for myself…
found file: MaxManaged.xaml
here
path: \\workstation\Users\**USERNAME**\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2011 - 64bit\enu\UI
with zero bytes - ups - bad thing… fortunately there still was a “MaxManaged.xaml.backup” with about 1.5 MB so I renamed the backup file back to “MaxManaged.xaml” (not without to make another backup of the file - just to be on the save side)
and voila! ribbons are back again… ;-)

Cheers guys I got this working again now.
Yes I realised it wasnt Maxwell after I uninstalled the plugin and the error was still happening.
Funny how it has never happened before until I installed the new plugin though....

Oh well at least it works again thankyou!
