is there a reason why my motion vector buffer is showing black?
i did a test scene with 3 spheres in 3d max. 1. moving along x, 2. moving along z, and 3. moving along x-y.
each moving a great distance in 5 animated frames at 30fps, rendered at frame 2.
i even tested it by exporting the animated sequence to mxs and rendering directly as well.
if i have motion blur either set to off, or per object then the motion vector turns out black.
if i have motion blur set to on (which really defeats the purpose of rendering motion vector), then all moving objects depict the same color which is quite useless.
the same scene/frame rendered through mental ray or vray with velocity element gives me something i would expect to see. each sphere with a different motion shade.
am i doing something wrong here? what's going on?
im in max 2009/64 by the way.
