I've just installede the newest plug-in, without realising that i had an old demo of maxwell 2.0 on the system. The new plug-in autmoatically fired up mr 2.0 as the renderer, instead of my licensed r 1.7. So i uninstalled the 2.0 demo, but now i get an "cannot start the Maxwell command line renderer" message every time I try to start rendering. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the plug-in several times, but still the same message. Is there an .ini-file or something that I can change, in order to get the plugin to use 1.7 instead of the missing 2.0?

Kindest regards

You reinstalled 1.7 or 2.0 plugin?

That error pops when MAXWELL_ROOT env variable is wrong or missing. In a command prompt try to echo its value with echo %MAXWELL_ROOT% see where it points. If you don't have it or it points to a wrong directory you have to create/change it (Windows Key+Break to open the system properties window, Advanced Tab | Environment Variables button)

Thanks for your fast reply

I installed/reinstalled the only plug-in i could find from the download area - 2.0.3.0- there was no way tell if it was for 1.7 or 2.0 - if there is a specific plug-in for 1.7, where can i get it?

The echo %MAXWELL_ROOT% points to "C:\Program Files\Next Limit\Maxwell" which seems to be the right one.

cheers

Yes, you need the 1.7 version of the plugin installed. 2.0 only works with MR 2.0. About knowing the version, check Customize->Preferences->Maxwell Tab.

I think you can get 1.7 by emailing the support.
