When I use PF Source to spread out some tree objects they are exported as normal geometry rather than instances. In the Rendering Setup -> General Settings tab I have instances checked. Am I missing something?

In your particle dialog, did you use 'shape instance'?

Then also make sure there is no motion blur on in the scene. I think MBlur and instances don't get along.

Also, don't use displacement in the tree's materials.

I think that covers it. See if any of those things help.
