I have a number of blocks in our library that were made using Maxwell v.2. I have not used them for the last few months, but just today noticed that when I tried to merge them into a scene, now using the latest and greatest plug-in v. 2.0.30 and Maxwell v.2.0.3..

I get the following error message every time (this happens on any of my .max files that worked as recent as a month ago? , and is a huge deal if we just lost everything set up pre 2.03 / 2.0.30)

1st error box says "Error Loading ParamBlock2"
then I press 'ok' since that is the only option

2nd error box says "Invalid file- only partially loaded"
then I press 'ok' since that is the only option again

3rd error box says "File Open Failed: {file location}.max"
then I press 'ok' since that is the only option again

Then nothing........no scene..no materials nada.

Hopefully I am missing something simple....anyone else overcome this issue or have it?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Paxton

ps...we are on 3dMax7

Hi Bogdan,

I am not sure the which plug-in was used, I typically update the plug-ins as 3D Max prompts. I have not been using MAX or Maxwell over the last month or so, maybe that puts a time frame on it?

I know it was Maxwell V.2, just don't know which plug in. At home, I have v.2.0.27 and the same exact error happens. So it is pre 2.0.27.

This file, I rendered using the 3dMax plug-in on Feb, 9th...can't open today w/ v2.0.27

Thanks for looking into this

The scene contains some obsolete Max info (at least that's what Max is telling me) but I was able to open it with version 2.0.26. After a look over the changes between 2.0.26 and 2.0.27 I can tell you that there weren't any format changes between the two versions.

However, I did manage to open it in 2.0.30 by opening it in 2.0.26, save the scene (Max will tell you that it will override obsolete data, click Yes) and reopen it in 2.0.30.

PS. If you don't have version 2.0.26 I can PM you a link for it.

there's also another work around:

1) open working scene with max2010
2) set render engine to "scanline render"
3) save and close
4) open scene with max2011
5) set render engine to "maxwell render"
6) save it.. and in my case worked 100%.

this worked also between different (and more obsolete) version of plug-in, cause i needed to load older projects.
