It seems the "Put material to scene" button is not working.... Anyone noticed that?
I have to make a box and assign the new material and then a message box appears asking me if I want to replace or rename the material.... Strange, maybe it has to do with a checkbox setting inside Preferences or something like that.

yup - same thing here. For a stranger one - has anyone tried loading up "CANADA - Vancouver" in the environment dialog ?
I tried it three times and it crashed every time. I tried a different location and it was OK.
So, what i'd like to know is, what do NL have against Vancouver :(

We're looking into both problems, we'll let you know as soon as we figure out what's going on.

Regarding the "Put material in the scene" issue, we don't have anything to do with it. I've checked the issue in Max2011 without the Maxwell plugin installed and it behaves differently than in Max 2010 for some reason. According to the help file, the workflow is like this:
Put Material To Scene updates a material in the scene after you edit the material.

Put Material To Scene is available only when:

The material in the active sample slot has the same name as a material in a scene.
The material in the active sample slot is not hot.
In other words, this command is intended to fit into the overall sequence of handling materials:

You create a hot material either by applying it to objects in the scene or by getting it from the scene.
You make a copy of the material.
You make changes to the copy of the material.
You update the scene by putting the changed material back into the scene.
I've checked the first requirement (with the names), but it doesn't work in Max2011.

Regarding Brian Adams and Canada, I don't have a crash here. The plug-in simply parses the cities.txt file located in the Maxwell installation directory and display the content in that combobox. Can I have your cities.txt file to check it? bogdan.coroi@gmail.com

I will never understand why someone changes something that works OK... It was a very nice and quick way to make new mats from existing mats in the material editor slots.

After many efforts and attempts to understand the new way, I am sure that this is a stupid change! It was a matter of seconds to reassign the materials even for a complex scene, now it is sometimes impossible
