No problem here on Max 2010 64 bit SP1.

In my case, when I assign a maxwell material, the backface of the object turned black.

Are you using DX9, 10, or OpenGL? Maybe try switching.

I'm using dx9 on hd3850.
Just it occured when I using maxwell materials only.
Very strange.
