Most of the images rendered with Maxwell are quite noisy. Instead of filtering them in a post processing step with photoshop (or something) in 2d, more sophisticated filtering techniques should be implemented in the renderer itself ! For instance the image could be rendered to an additional z-buffer (with pointers to coresponding polygons) and filtering then could be applied in 3d (even with respect to edges of the actual polygonal geometry)... Such filters could be swiched on or of for basically each primitive individually...
This could really save render time !!!
