I have loaded a new mxs reference into Maxwell Studio. The mxs is a component exported from Sketch Up 8. When I render the scene the following message appears:

Error:
Data preprocess failed. Render cannot continue.

If you look in Studio's Console window, does it mention any missing textures? If so, it may help to open the Render Options panel and put the directory where your referenced MXS file is located into the Materials > Search Path field.
