the major problem is that your lighting is off between the HDR environment and your scene

the shadows under the chair indicates that this is in the middle of the day, at 12.00? The sky looks more like late afternoon to me.

changing ground rotation back to 0 makes it look like noon, with shadow directly undernieth model.

besides the shadow not looking correct, how can i make the deck edge and the hdr intersection look better?

hi
in my opinion, the background-image is much too dark for the lightning-setup of the chair. this is one of the reasons, why they don't fit. the other problem seems the lack of focus on the background. it is very blurry and the edge of the deck is very sharp. you could try eighter using a sharp background, or trying a smaller f-stop value on your camera settings to get a slightly blurred back edge.
greets,
kami

Increase the value of the intensity for the background image. This should decrease the darkness of the background image.

You need to fix your deck planks, too. Those short pieces near the back edge are cantilevers that will not support any weight. Best to use single length planks.

would it be best to disable physical sun light on the disabled layers, and just create a light efect in ps?

I'm not sure what you would like to do to make the render look better with the hdr background but as already mentioned the biggest difference is the sky would never look that dark if the chair/models had that level of exposure. You need to increase the intensity of the background HDR image. This will not increase the intensity of the lighting it gives off, that's controlled by the illumination layer.

Much better man, love the sea.

So, is this a known issue?
