I wanted to merge several objects into one single and after doing so, some objects change their position to others that are merged. The imported model was a 3ds file. Done on a PowerMac G5.

Any idea?

This happens to me frequently too. Sometimes, geometry that is not to be changed will disappear.

3ds is very tricky, some files work others not. I suggest you try exporting as another format, for example obj and importing that. We can take a look at more instances of 3ds files which don't import correctly but it depends a lot on how they where exported.

This happens to me with solid works files exported into studio ... is Solidworks tricky too ?

No, it shouldn't happen with mxs files generated from the SW plugin. Is it happening when you are replacing files or just importing an mxs into Studio? If you could upload a file that's making this problem it would help a lot. You can PM me the file if you want.
