i have the a similar thing going on with the globe and it's been there for a long time. haven't found a way to fix it though. sometimes it shows me nightfall even if i should be in bright sunlight, sometimes the landmasses seem to "zip up" to the north pole ... weird.

and about the scaling thing - i presume you mean the hdri tabs - i set the scaling in the background tab and copy the numbers.

but maybe you should post this in the render section as it is a studio problem.
