Hi all, new Maxwell user here, I'll be using it mainly in Rhinoceros. Now I have a question, what command option do I use to set the amount of light bounces and such?
I don't see that option in the Rhino plugin, but I know it's a setting you can modify in for example 3ds max. Anybody who knows? The reference manual didn't mention it.

I hope I can show some work soon, that is, if my client allows it ;)

edit: ok now I'm very confused.. I checked in 3dsmax (maxll 1.2.1beta) and the option for bounces isn't there? I thought I read somewhere that you can adjust the amount of bounces to speed up rendertime? Wasn't it under render controls? I'll have to read up on some documentation I think.
Sorry for the confusing topic

there's no such an option. well, it used to be, but it was removed when maxwell went beta (and some users really miss it). bounce control is now totally automatic and up to maxwell.

Controling nr of bounces has been removed a long time ago. What version of Maxwell are you using?

ah, well while editing my posts I already got replies, thanks for the speedy answer people.

I'm using the latest verison of Maxwell, but I've been lurking in the forum quite a while and read that it was possible to adjust this. Now apparantly it is automatic. Ok well that kind of solves it then.. Thanks guys for the enlightment.

i for one do miss the control there . . .

i had a scene where i had two mirrored faces adjacent to each other with an angle of less than 90 deg between them, so they were lookin at each other. Then i put a glass sphere between them and hit render.
the optimized bounce count was so low that it was not picking up any reflections in the second mirror.

after much trial, i made 2 mirrors rather than one mirror with 2 faces , the bounce count went up such that i was seeing reflections in the second mirror.

i know there were tons of threads with bounce count how many?!? in the title, but NL, please give an option to allow the atuo-bounce count or to set it yourself, as not everyone was confused with how many bounces to set.

anyone else second that?

well, while I like the idea of an automatic bounce count, as mentioned, it can go wrong and a manual override would be welcome. I'll chime in on the request :)
