Herve, good to hear it's been good to you - this machine was expensive but I bought it with longevity in mind - the way I see it they haven't yet begun to really take advantage of the latest technology (64bit, dual core ect, Sli...). Soon though, here's to hoping!

according to the cinebench result i have seen on the net, your machine is up to four to five time faster than my poor P4 2.4 Ghz (the P4 is around 256 and the dual core dual opteron aroud 1100 in cinebench if i do remember) if its not accurate with maxwell ( i hope not while we wait for an increased speed) at least i can only imagine the speed issue with that kind of computer knowing that cinema 4d has been optimised for 64bits gaining 20% to 30% speed, whilst with its new incarnation ( cinema4D xl 9.5) they clame to get an 300% to 400% increased speed ( due to new AA computation amongst others) i know those specs probably wont had each others, but i cant wait to see the 9.5 64bits tested on that kinda killer computer of yours ... gimme that lotto ticket... :D

Too bad I don't have C4D or I would test that too!

Adam Trachtenberg wrote:The speed increase in the 64 bit version of Cinema isn't a result of the fact that it's 64 bits--but rather because they removed some code that supported older, legacy processors. No point in keeping that code when older cpus can't run 64 bit OS anyway.
agreed, but if the "exeeding" code has been removed in the 9.1 version it should be the same with the 9.5 isn't it? anyway we'll see once available... :D

-so from what i read that we dont need ram we dont need good VGA card .. all you need is good XEON to speed up the renderings ? right . :?: :?: :?:

-okey so how much different is dual xeon 2,8 from pentuim(R)M singl 1.8ghz. what is the one houer = in dual xeon 2,8 . :?: :?: :?:

The CPU is what determines how fast you can render; your video card does nothing in this process. I would say that RAM and CPU speed are the most important things in your machine, make sure you've got the most of both that you can afford.

yes and the bus and disk speed help a bit...
