Hi I use the commandline renderer, the preview doens't work, well I don't see the preview picture. I'm not sure if the controls work either.
I'm rendering high res images 3k, maybe thats has something to do with it.

I don't think this will help, but heres my options.

mxcl -d -th:0 -p:low -hd -l:a,r -s:25 -t:9999 -res:3000x1687 -mxs:E:\work\architectural\Projects\VMR\Render-Int\view\view01.mxs -o:E:\work\architectural\Projects\VMR\Render-Int\view\viewlarge03.tga

this happens to me as well when using -hd.

On the contrary, it helped a lot Duncan...
Because -hd option is not supporting preview yet This is known.
