Cheers

Brett

edit: or with kaydaras fbx format and I can convert it to a maya scene file if you like...
Once you render it please e-mail me the file to upload it.
So people with Maya can download your scene and max users the original.
When other plugins available (c4d, LW, XSI etc) do the same thing.

If you want you can create you own scene and e-mail it to me to put it at the front (1st post). Just make it to take around 1hr on a 3ghz PC - no textures of course.

This is what I got, with my converted maya scene file, please not that the materials are a little off, and theres some missing geometry that I'm not sure about

Intel dual 2.8Ghz HT OFF(bug), 4Gb PC2700 RAM: 27min 12seconds (skydome_test.zip) Maxwell: 1_1_10_0001_alpha

Rendered on Maya 6 WinXP SP2

_sylence_ wrote:i put your times in my calculator, andronikos, and it seems maxwell doesnt scale linear in relation to core clocks, which makes me wonder why.

60 mins at 2800mhz relates to 50.1 mins at 3350mhz.

have you overclocked your p4 just by raising FSB or did you choose another memory/fsb divider, too?

sylence
No I did not changed the multiplier - only fsb. Also the Dual Xeon HT was OFF (bug) you know....

The p4 has 512mb ddr the xeon has 2gb ddr

Dual Xeon Prestonia 2.8 OC @ 3.34Ghz HT OFF (2gb ddr): 33min 53sec (default scene skydome_test.zip) Maxwell: 1_1_10_0001_alpha

Intel P4 2.8Ghz HT ON (512mb ddr): 1hr 0min 02sec (deault scene skydome_test.zip) Maxwell: 1_1_10_0001_alpha

Intel P4 2.8Ghz @ 3.35Ghz HT ON (512mb ddr): 52min 45sec (deault scene skydome_test.zip) Maxwell: 1_1_10_0001_alpha

Athlon Xp2800+ (2.07Ghz) (1gb ddr): 1hr 8min 36sec (deault scene) Maxwell: 1_1_10_0001_alpha

AMD 64 3500+ (2.2Ghz) (1gb ddr): 59min 36sec (deault scene skydome_test.zip) Maxwell: 1_1_10_0001_alpha

Thanks for posting that graph! The dual opteron scores seem very dissapointing....I see there are two entries for the opterons but they are the same processors?

Well decided to do this benchmark as my first Maxwell Scene. Maxwell is pretty consistant so far. This is with my new HP notebook running Win XP Media Center Edition P4 550, 1GB ddr2 400, 100GB 4200 HD. I'm going to have to replace that HD and I think I going to add 512MB Ram (unfortunately buy one 1GB sodimm and loose one 512MB sodimm, anyone need a 512mb sodimm, I'll sell it cheap!)

Pentium 4 550 @ 3.4Ghz (3.39) HT ON (1gb ddr2 400): 53min 44sec (default scene skydome_test.zip) Maxwell: 1_1_10_0001_alpha

I should mention that I did have several other programs open and was using the computer, so I'll have to try again later with it by itself to see if it improves.

RAM obviously didn't really make much of a difference with this scene though. Maxwell didn't actually use that much according to the task manager. I thought I might edge out the OC P2.8 since it only had 512MB RAM but guess not. Maybe it makes a difference at higher resolutions?

I just uploaded the .mxs file.
check the first page...

cy,
Andronikos

P.S.

the tests and rendertimes are with Version: 1_1_10_0001_alpha
Maxwell is updating and optimized very fast so you might notice the following differences:

rendertimes (even if you are using same PC config.)
overall brightness (due to ISO settings or SS and fstop)
dof
color
etc...

please post your results + image if it is different.

thank you,
Andronikos

Hi all,

There is an interesting file that we create mainly for benchmark propouses. This file in undel the manxwell/output folder and its name is maxwell.log. In this file there is some information about the last render that maxwell makes, one of this data is the maxwell benchmark rate.ç

like this: Maxwelll Bench 1.0: 25.164889

This data is a value that helps to meassure how powerfull is the computer where the render have been done. Of course if you want to compare is important to use the same MXS scene and the same render version, also important to leave the computer alone during render to avoid other proces to take cpu time.

Ignacio
