Hi guys,

I'm trying to render a single surface wine bottle at the moment. I'm not sure if I should be modelling the thickness of the glass to get realistic transparency and refractions.

Is modelling the internals of a glass bottle advised?

Thanks.

well yes you MUST model the bottle as it would be in Real life.. that is with the right glass thickness.. :D

otherwise it will look like a block of glass..

Eric: Thanks mate. Will do.

Herve: Yes there will be red wine in it. I modelled the liquid inside the glass already. Any further tips?

PS: Guys I'm not seeing any caustics coming from the bottle for some reason. (I did a render viewport to double check)

You will often find that caustics suddenly pop into view as the render progresses. I've often wondered why none appeared when the image seems otherwise fairly highly resolved but they do kick in eventually if your lighting is set up properly.

Guys,

I'm noticing the labels on my wine bottle aren't looking as sharp as they should be. My textures are large enough for the render size.

Is there some sort of filtering going on during maxwell renders when it has to do with PNG textures?

ok thanks for explaining. actually I do copy the T[…]
