I am doing a interior visualisation of a pavilion with walls made of a very light fabric material.

A low warm sunlight should penetrate the fabric walls and will be sufficient to light up the room (some). There are some small trees+branches outside the pavilion that should cause soft shadows to be seen on the fabric walls - as seen from the inside of the pavilion.

Can anyone help me or give me some hints how I can create such a fabric material?

Thanks!

thinSSS:

Will help to read also the main page about SSS.

There's a included material in the installer which has a leaf material using thinSSS which will give you a good starting point. With thinSSS the asymmetry setting is quite important, as well as the virtual thickness you set.

When tweaking your material, use the leafs preview scene which will give you a better idea of how translucent the material will be.

Hint: the more negative asymmetry you use, the more backlit the material can look (more light is allowed to go through it)
