Hallo,

I am working with Windows 7/64 Bit, 16 GB RAM, Intel XEON CPU E3-1245 V2 @ 3,4 GHz and I wish to upgrade my graphic card to match the possibilities of Maxwell 3.0.

We are using currently an Nvidia Quadro 600 which seems to create a couple of problems since Maxwell 3.0, which apparently seems to use the card more intensively than the previous version Maxwell 2.0, already while looking at the material previews either in the Explorer or in the MXED application.

Since the price question is not irrelevant, I would be grateful for any suggestion concerning the acquisition of a graphic card with better performance.

I just got a gtx 780. Its amazing, but I was upgrading from a geforce 7700. So anything probably would have been better. But I am pretty sure even the material previews use the cpu for rendering. I think the gfx card is for viewport only. If anything your cpu might be chugging a little more.

I also recommend some sort of gaming GPU, like any relatively recent GTX. I have a GTX 670 on my home PC and it flies.

How do you know the card is used more intensively than before?
As far as I know the only application that is using the card at all would be, the fast multilight or scattering(etc) preview ...

I just suspect it is a graphic card problem.

I am regularly experiencing crashes since the Maxwell 3.0 last update which allowed biger material icons as earlier. It occurs even without starting Maxwell or MXED, simply while surfing the material files in the normal explorer (not even necessarily within the MXED browser). Explorer quits after a while especially when viewing icons of materials with big maps. The materials seem to be OK, some of them I used in Maxwell 2.7 previously without any kind of problem.

The MXED browser quits too after a while or begins to behave weird.

I suspect that the graphic card puffers previews and after a while it quits because of their large number and bigger dimension. On the other hand, I am very happy with having bigger material icons.
