We are having a problem rendering our old models created using Maxwell v2 in 3ds Max since we installed the new Maxwell v3 :
Materials which were created using the Maxwell Material Wizard / "textured" option are now showing a bitmap in the following three channels:
1. Global parameters -bump channel, and also 2. the "opacity" channel of the material's "specular" folder and 3. the "opacity" channel of the material's "base" folder.

This is a huge problem for us as we cannot render, since we get this error message " Bitmap File not found ( ) in bump of Material "walls off white" "

So we would have to go into every file and check all materials to see which ones have the problem and remove these "missing" bitmaps which seem to have been created in the conversion from Maxwell version 2 to version 3 !!!

Is there a way to fix this easily (eg a setting we can make to make v3 accept v2 materials correctly?
If not I hope you can fix this quickly. !!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, add to the above comment that when preparing a new "textured" material in the maxwell v3 Maxwell Material Wizard, we also get these "missing" bitmaps generated where no bitmap is selected in for one of the options (ie Colour texture, specular texture, Bump, Normal map and alpha).
So the wizard creates a bitmap in the channel if none is allocated, but at rendertime, this creates an error as maxwell looks for this unspecified bitmap (and obviously cannot find it!!!).
In v2 any texture in the wizard's five options which was not allocated simply remained empty, therefore no problem. But v3 allocates this empty "bitmap" slot which requires a texture.

Where no texture is selected, we will need the default to be an empty slot (not a bitmap waiting to be allocated, and hence causing errors at render time!!)

Please fix this or let me know if I am doing something wrong.

We're still waiting on a response to this!
This is a HUGE hindrance to our workflow, and seriously needs to be addressed quickly!!!!!!!!!
We are having to go into all old AND new materials created using the old "texture" matrerial in the material wizard and new (v3) materials generated using the Material wizard and the new Maxwell Material Assistant and cut/delete all unspecified bitmaps from channels where maxwell v3 has now auto-assigned empty bitmap channels!!!!

Fix this quickly please !!!

As a general comment, can I say that the above problem and many of the problems I am seeing other users coming across on the forum, show a real lack of pre-release testing on Maxwel v3 !!

However, I would rather wait for an answer from the Nextlimit team before I spend time on various beta versions.
After all we have paid for version 3 and expect a working, tested piece of software. We are not paying them to be Beta testers, sorry!
