Maybe with an higher sampling level (5 is relatively low for this type of scene) you will see a much sharper image.

However, a slight blurring was introduced with the recent Beta. Next Limit have said this will be rectified the next update.

Ive made some tests, and the sharpness at lv 4 will increase as you advance to higher levels, but some slight blur will remain. Oscar told us, that this feature will be removed (or reduced) in upcoming releases.

Along with the blur, a much darker solution comes, like Maxwell would discard samples which are "not good eneugh". (samples that would increase the noise level)

WolfKiller: Oscar also stated that the solution is still unbiased, and if it so, the blurring has nathing to do with the speed increase. You cant blur samples together, and have an unbiased solution at the same time. Interpolation and per pixel unbiased solution just not mix. :) And, I dont think NL would lie about this, since they're so proud of their unbiased way.

Remember how we were all bitching about speed increase and noise in the old alpha? Well now we have a little blurring eairly in the process. So what? It works effectivly since there was a speed increase but we lost something else in the process. This is acceptable I think.
they already said this was the correct way to model a digital camera (1 pixel blur), not a sad trick to increase performance (this would'nt work anyway)
juste render at a good digital camera resolution and compare.. all shots taken with my EOS Digital needs a sharpen in ps to be as sharp as a 3D rendering

i don't think is acceptable. I bough maxwell mainly for quality ! if i wonder for speed.....well..Vray is better! but i payed for quality photo render

giusto, karonte, anch'io voto per la qualità! :D
soprattutto in architettura, penso che un bel rendering statico valga più di una lunga animazione mediocre.

Now that's the one statement from the one man that I've been waiting for.

That will be great to have sharper pictures again.
