Does anyone know how the "Stay Creative" image on the Maxwell v3 main page (http://www.maxwellrender.com/V3/feature/) was actually created?

It's obviously replicating a very slow shutter camera and light drawing... what I am wondering is... was this faked, in other words.. achieved via geometry and materials or was it actually achieved with an animated object and a really slow shutter?

I've never been able to reproduce this effect digitally without modeled geometry.

Anyone know?

Hello 3dgeek,

It has been created by true motion blur of an emitting object, like the light trails you can see in this video:

There is a tiny optimization tip that was used to reduce render times there (we would like to publish a tutorial about it in the near future) but the general approach is true real motion blur of a moving light.
