Really 3DS Max should've been killed off gracefully years ago, or ground-up revamped. It is so antiquated and bogged down, surviving purely off of its market share perpetual motion machine.

Meanwhile C4D and Blender exceed expectations with every (pretty frequent!) release.

Why would a company choose to "kill off gracefully" a software with such a high market share? If it is so antiquated and bogged down, you would think that the market would correct itself by producing unsatisfied customers willing to move to new software. Do you think customers shouldn't have the freedom to choose? Should some knowledgeable person dictate what software is worthy and which should be killed?

I'm just expressing that I think 3DS has run its course...you may be over-analyzing what I meant.

Yes, the development team and management. Why not put their string of acquisitions to use? Merge some applications or do total revamps incorporating your new IP. Instead we get these crusty overpriced fossils year after year, while many of their acquisitions fade into abandonware.

Furthermore, if 3ds Max were discontinued in 2015 it wouldn't make a 2014 copy self-destruct.

It's hard to change your software. It takes a lot of effort and requires some spare time, but I try hard.

Yah i see it out there now. Odd as Intel doesn't usually have different models in different markets.

We're going with E5-2690v2 for workstations here and E5-2680v2's for the farm.

If it is really possible to overclock the BCLK to 112MHz this would be 4GHz one core turbo and 3,5GHz all core (if all core is 32)

I really consider to get one for my P9X79 WS, but i have to check if it is supported - would be at least 10x3,5GHz = 35GHz + a few Ivy Bridge percent compared to 6x4,6GHz = 27,6GHz Sandy Bridge now...

BCLK 112 is not possible in dual CPU configurations. 105 is the highest I've seen be relatively stable. It's basically not worth it.

it says 112MHz - if it is true...
Maybe Ivy-E clocks better.
I haven't seen any result on X79 boards now.
