In the material editor I've made an emitter and I was able to customize it. However, the options are no longer available when you go to edit the material at a later date. Is this a bug?

That would definitely be a bug, but I don't yet see a sequence of events which reproduces it here. Does it remain that way after closing/re-opening the Scene Manager? How about after closing/re-opening SketchUp?

Try this:

1) Select your emitter in the materials palette
2) Select emitter options in maxwell palette, do adjustment
3) Close maxwell palette
4) Re-open maxwell palette and see if emitter options are accessible.

I open-close my max palette all the time to save space, so I think that's where the bug is happening.
