Have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling? I've had instances of corrupt installations even though no error was thrown.

several times now Dario had me uninstall all Maxwell programs, 32 and 64 bit, but nada.

It's very odd.

Can you check if there's a maxwell.exe or cmd.exe process in the task manager after the cmd window disappears? The fact that the cmd window is hidden means that maxwell starts, but probably crashes before it can show its main window.

Also, try this (as administrator):

"C:\Program Files\Next Limit\Maxwell 2\maxwell.exe" > c:\log.txt

This should create a text file which contains the console output of Maxwell before it crashes. Please post its contents (if any), maybe it contains some clues.

Firing up maxwell from the shortcut does not leave any running proceses. If I run the command prompt route it leaves a cmd.exe process running after crashing.

I tried the log for you, but it just crashed and left a blank file.

I'm starting to see a re-format in my future.....
