thanks ....no it's just two sss materials using a layer mask - made using the liquify tool in photoshop & then offset & tweaked to tile. Am happy to post the mxm if you'd like to play around with it.

looks like maybe additive layers arn't problem but MULTILIGHT with Color+Intensity makes FIREFLYS with SSS in this 2.5 release..

not a terrible biggie as I can render with Intensity only multilight mode and adjust emiter color via PS or AE plugins
(unless you plan to use SIMULENS for glows and want to change your emiter colors..then its a problem)
