The pricing is definitely suspicious. The point is made though... with the Intel switch by Apple, your really just buying a nice case and a very expensive OS.

Aside from that, consider this hypothetical: tomorrow, Microsoft announces a new strategic partnership with Dell; as a part of the deal, it will no longer be possible, without resorting to possibly-illegal hacks, to install Windows on any machine other than a Dell.

What might be the general reaction, I wonder?

(if you can't tell, I'm sometimes a little bitter that Apple requires that I buy their machines, just so that I can compile code for my OSX users -- Microsoft doesn't do that; if I used Apple machines exclusively, I'd still be able to compile for Windows, just by buying the OS)
