I've got several courses of corbeled out brick and currently using the same map for all and consequently getting unappealing vertical lineup of the texture...is there a way without creating a seperate mxm for each course of brick to nudge the texture origin?

The only way to do that would be to create separate texture mappings for individual courses. In my opinion, it would be easier to employ multiple materials, using Offset in the Maxwell textures to accomplish the desired shift...that's easier in my book than fiddling with alot of texture mappings.
