This is my first WIP post. It is a restroom I am rendering for my office. I think the mirrors on the walls with the shelf and sink came out well (almost too well). I think the stainless steel material that is used on the two main walls came out well but could use some work still. The glass is supposed to be a frosted glass which will have an ambient white glow, it is pretty close.

I know it is kind of grainy, it is my first pass. I would really appreciate some criticism or comments as I am fairly new to Maxwell and still trying different things. Thanks

Hi Koolhaas,

Great start, I love the floor and sealing construction.
About the mirrors, now it looks like it has no thickness, is there any glass in front of the mirroring surface?
Also at this moment it looks like the mirror is cutting into the wall, maybe create a small gap to have some shadow contrast.

Keep those updates coming!

P.s.

Your name isn't Rem by any chance? ;-)

Here is another rendering I have been working on for a few days. It has been my hardest up to this point because there is no natural lighting and I can't just clip away what isn't in the view because the materials are so reflective. I have had to set up many invisible lights in the scene just to get close to the right light quality. I am still messing with the materials and some of the finer geometry, hardware, door handles, etc. I would appreciate any comments. Thanks

Usually it looks more natural to increase ISO and decrease Shutter Speed than setting lights to unreal values.

Also, there's something odd with your mirrors: they are too perfect; so much that it's hard to tell where they are. Real mirrors does not reflect the exact same colors; they are usually a bit darker; you should lower the Nd value a bit.

I think. :P

Fernando,

thanks for the input. I have been used to modeling simple shapes for lights and just increasing the power a whole lot. I will try messing with the ISO and shutter a bit more.

So, is this a known issue?
