Any features you'd like to see implemented into Maxwell?

Those are odd problems jespi, check browsers first of all. Clean out your system from trash by using CCleaner if you're on a Windows platform, defrag your C drive if you haven't done so recently. Which browser are u using ?
I'm using both FireFox and Opera at home and Opera is by far the fastest of them both so maybe u should try that browser to see if it helps. Torrents usually grab your whole bandwidth unless you set it not to so it can't be a problem with your connection if the torrent is fast both in upload and download. Besides that i have no idea what it could be.. :(

Yep and if i have any success with something reminding of a toonshader at home i'll be sure to post it asap on the forum. :)
If i fail, you won't see my poor results hehe

Wow Jespi,
you've found this old thread of mine. I frankly have given up on seeing something
like this inside Maxwell any time soon. I brought up that topic several times over the years
but the Next Limit guys did not seem interested at all...
"Stuff like is not conform with the development direction this program is supposed to take"
"If you still need NPR, you can easily achieve this in post."

I call every effort to do a completely photorealistic architectural/interior rendering nonsense unless you
have the time this guy invested http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread. ... 2&t=754315.
Most who invest a little bit less effort and also go without stylizing of less image content end up
with results which cause plain eye-cancer to me - what a crazy amounts of wasted time!

If Next Limit could give up on its No Nonsense Simulator philosophy and allowed mix
of genres inside their application they would also open the door for a higher level of artistic content
created with their product. A valueable side-effect was that scenes with a mix of traditional mxm's and
NPR content could GREATLY speed up rendering - so that animations got something one could
seriously consider with this program.

But there's at least a bit of good news for Rhino users - Curve-rendering with the Rhino-Labs-plugin
makes at least Wireframe overlays pretty straightforward now. Have your tried this out?

Hello Holger,

Seems like we share the same point of view, I really can't see the point about making almost photorealism renders. I find way more interesting images that have something to say and speak by itself. And pure photorealism is a luxury I can't afford 99% of the times. What I can not understand is why the user can't choose the way he likes to express?, really this does not makes any sense to me.

About curve pipe render plugin, does it works with maxwell? I though you need a renderer based in the rhino RDK and as far as I know maxwell uses SDK if i'm not wrong, isn't it?. Take a look at this rendering made by David Rutten using curve pipeng and Brazil http://brazil.mcneel.com/photos/other/i ... ginal.aspx

Hi Jespi,

And you probably had a hard time to find a single European Art-School faculty member who would encourage such efforts...

Yes it does - all RDK-mesh operations now work without having to extract the modified mesh first.
You have to uncheck "Ignore RDK meshes" in the Scene-Editors options tab though. Check it out!

I really agree on your point that as a designer, it is not necessary to create photorealistic renderings but you often want (and have to) express more.

I once helped myself by overlaying a clay rendering with an x-ray render from rhino: http://deiters.ch/renderings/950/stoeckacker_03.jpg

but this method is not really suitable for highres ... I didn't about the curve rendering but will take a look at it, the next time I'll have to use a technique like that again.

Nice technic Kami!. What i like to do, is make a 2d from the same view as the render and export those lines to illustrator and apply different kind of lines, after that I place the illustrator file above the render within photoshop, and apply to that layer an screen or softlight opacity.

:D I'm the one who wants more. More flexibity and artistic freedom.
Inbuilt options to create renderings which communicate design intent better than with photorealistic means only (in which Maxwell excels at this point in time already).

Hi Def, as far as I know Flamingo does not have toon shader support. Also, I think Brazil quality is far superior to Flamingo. Maybe you don't know this, but Brazil for Rhino has been developed by McNeel, meaning that the integration between Brazil and Rhino is very smooth. But I have not used Brazil before, so I'm not sure how good is. Have you used Brazil,Def?

Thanks,

José

So, is this a known issue?

Thanks a lot for your response, I will update and […]

did you tried luxCore?
